Newham Flames team

Welcome

Newham Flames Handball Club
Handball has been a popular sport in Newham since 2005 when it was introduced to the Borough as part of the Neighbourhood Sports Programme to help back the bid for the Games to be staged in London in 2012. This led to the formation of the Newham Flames Handball Club which has gone on to play in international tournaments in Sweden and Germany. Handball in Newham has now grown to over 300 participants a month taking part in the sport and is supported by a full time Handball Development Officer – Ari Bekker.

Newham flames are going to be at the Olympics!

8th FEBRUARY 2012

Newham flames are proud to announce that two members of the club will be at the Olympics this July! Ari Bekker and Konrad Markwardt have been selected as National Technical Officers (NTO's) for the Olympic handball arena. They have been working hard for many months and have had successful practices at the London handball cup (test event). The NTO's have very important roles at the Olympics such as time keeping and keeping the score board up to date at all times. We wish them the very best and we hope you will be looking out for them at the Olympics!
